Birding at Hunsberger Woods
Details
Hunsberger Woods is a 27-acre natural area in Collegeville which, although small, encompasses a variety of habitats including hemlock-lined creeks, a pond, meadows, and the woods for which it is named. eBird has no data for Hunsberger Woods in early December so our visit will contribute to the data set for this location. We expect to see year round resident birds, as well as a variety of sparrows and winter residents like yellow-bellied sapsuckers and brown creepers.
Beginning birders are welcome to join us. The trip will cover a little over a mile with one short steep section on pavement but the remainder on natural surface trails with rolling terrain. There will be a shallow creek crossing where our feet may get wet, so good boots are highly recommended. Please bring binoculars if you have them. The leaders will have 1 pair to loan out.
Note that there is no restroom on site.
