National Bird Day Outing
Details
Yes, there really is a holiday called National Bird Day!
First observed in 2002, National Bird Day provides an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and importance of birds and to raise awareness about avian welfare and conservation issues. It is held this time of the year to coincide with the end of the Christmas Bird Count surveying period.
Please join us for a winter outing through the varied habitats of French Creek State Park as we mark National Bird Day by getting out together to observe wild birds. (This will be a great chance to try out those new binoculars you got for Christmas! If you didn't get any, no worries - the leaders will have a couple of pairs to borrow.)
Our outing will travel a flat route that keeps us primarily on paved trails and limited-use roads as well as some natural surface paths. All ages and abilities are welcome to join us, including those new to birdwatching. (Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.)
Meet at the playground parking lot behind the park office.
