Lantern Making Workshop - Balloon Lanterns

Details

Join Free the Fern and the Everett Crowley Park Committee for a balloon globe making lantern making workshop. Learn how to make a globe lantern, using a balloon, tissue paper, pressed leaves, and glue! The lantern will be illuminated with an LED tea light and can be carried or hung by a wire handle. You are welcome to bring your lantern back out on Dec 15 for our Light up the Night in Champlain Heights festival. All supplies included in this free community workshop. All ages welcome, but those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

All materials and tools will be included. This is a beginner, and family friendly event.

About the facilitator:

Grace Nombrado is the founder and Executive Director of Free the Fern Stewardship Society, an environmental nonprofit in South Vancouver, as well as the Communication Coordinator for the Invasive Species Council of Metro Vancouver. Grace holds a B.A. (English) and a B.Ed. (Teacher Certification) from Simon Fraser University. She uses her teaching skills to plan environmental events and art workshops. She has a passion for bringing the community together through stewardship and art.

We will also be offering a lantern weaving workshop at 1pm on Sunday 8th Dec. We request that you only sign up for either workshop so we can provide lantern making opportunities to as many of the community as possible!

Please pre-register on Meetup.com

Meeting location: Champlain Heights Community Centre

If you are no longer able to make it, please let us know so we can make the space available for someone else.
