You MUST indicate that you read the entire hike description by ANSWERING the question that pops up when signing up. If you have a recent "no show", then you'll have to wait until the day of the hike to see if there's room for you. If I don't know you or if I can't determine your scrambling experience from your profile, then be prepared to detail your SCRAMBLING experience in a PRIVATE message to me. Details means a description of the climbing you've done and the people you did it with, and how long ago. If you do not do this, you will not go. So if you find yourself in a not going list, please look back to see if you've forgotten anything. It's too difficult and time consuming for me to track down and try to research people I don't know.
Helmets are welcome. Be sure to use one that doesn't block your sight.
Always carry "in case of emergency" numbers with you in your pack.

This is always different, depending on the day's weather and the people on the hike. We will hike somewhere on the Red Springs side. Depending on weather, we try to stay in the shade or get more or less wind. You know Vegas. Whatever.
This hike is similar to the Grand Staircase in elevation gain, but might require a bit more technique in some places. The exact route is determined the day of the hike by the weather conditions and hikers going, among other things.
The view from the top of this rock is amazing. There's a pretty good view of the entire Calico Basin and the surrounding rocks as well as a look into the city to remind you that you're not very far away. You can also see over the 13-mile loop into the signature part of Red Rock Canyon.
As always, we'll keep an eye out for any wildlife to be seen along the way. In this area, there are many different animals like chuckwallas, red tailed hawks, ring tailed cat, and roadrunners, and the odd tarantula.
Not for beginners or those afraid of heights or tight spaces. There are a few places that require intermediate scrambling skills and there is some exposure. You must be able to pull your body weight up and lower yourself down using your arms.
No guests will be allowed without my prior approval.

YOU MUST BE ON THE "GOING" LIST IN ORDER TO GO ON THIS HIKE. CRASHING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
We'll meet at the Red Springs Parking Lot in Calico Basin. To get there, just head west on Charleston towards the park and make a right turn onto the well-marked Calico Basin turnoff. It's 2 miles BEFORE the Park entrance. Follow the road down to the Red Springs parking lot.
