Walk Royal Bay and Talk Join or Die

Details

Greetings!

In November we will try a new walk and new media! The selection for this month revisits our non fiction roots. The documentary Join or Die, is based on Robert Putnam's book Bowling Alone which explains research on the impacts of declining participation in social groups and its impacts on society creating an "American civic crisis." You can watch this documentary on Netflix. If you don't have Netflix you could use this as an opportunity to connect with a friend who does. Or you can listen to a discussion about the topic at link.

Please feel free to join us even if you were unable to view the selection for this month. Small friendly dogs are welcome. Please consider bringing a donation of 3-5 dollars to contribute towards the rising cost of the Meet Up fees

The walk will be in the Royal Bay Latoria Park near Royal Bay Secondary. It is a new area and I could not get the directions section to find the road. To find us go towards Royal Bay Beach and turn onto Latoria Boulevard going away from the beach. Follow it until you turn right onto Ryder Hesjedal Way. Continue until you reach the large parking lot on the left that stretches from 3445 - 3465 Ryder Hesjedal Way. (you can enter 3465 Hesjedal Way into your GPS to find it) Once you park in this large lot, walk towards the soccer field. At the back of the fields away from the street close to where the field and the parking lot meet there is a trailhead area. That is where we will meet. I will put our my white binder with the group name.

I look forward to seeing you next month.
