Gingerbread House making event-Portsmouth

This is a multi-meetup event. Right now, limiting to 10 from each group. May adjust that as we get closer. The meetup groups coming consist of the following groups:

Hampton Roads Over 45 Singles
Virginia Over 50

Please feel free to come in your best ugly sweater, or other holiday outfit to get us all in the spirit of the holidays. We had so much fun when we did this a couple of years ago.

Please bring a dish to share and post in the comments what you will be bringing so we can minimize any duplicates. Host will provide the plates, cutlery, napkins, etc....

We will be doing a make your own gingerbread house and landscape design. Who is up for the challenge? Who doesn't want to brag over their work of art over the holidays.

You can buy a premade kit (around $15 at Michaels, Walmart, Target, etc...) or bring whatever else you need for working at your part of the table. Or you can do like I do and bring my own kit: 1 box of graham crackers, lots of candy, a can of whipped cake icing and a plastic knife/paper plate. I stick the graham crackers to the box and build from there. I would also recommend bringing a 12" x 12" (no larger than) piece of cardboard covered with aluminum foil to put the house on and to make it easier to carry home.

The following are ideas to bring to decorate the house/cardboard landscape: M & Ms, licorice, jellybeans, all sorts of sprinkles, pretzel sticks, all sizes of marshmallows, food coloring to dye the icing, dots, skittles, powdered sugar, brown sugar, chocolate chips, candy melts, coconut flakes, cookies, mints, etc.. and any other candies you can think of as well as cups/small bowls to put them in. Hopefully everyone will bring extra to share.

NOTE: If you have not shown for an event that I have hosted and you did not change your RSVP to let us know you were not coming, I may be moving you to the wait list if the event fills up. Want to ensure that people that want to come and those that keep their RSVP updated can attend rather than using the limited number of spots (venue only holds room for 20) on those that will probably not show anyway. Sorry.
