Walk in Schenectady
Details
Come Walk in Schenectady With America's Walking Club, walkescv.org, choosing either a 5k or 10k pre-designed route.
The walk follows streets and sidewalks through the newly renovated Schenectady downtown, Union College and the Stockade Historic District. Founded by the Dutch in 1660, for many years the settlement was surrounded by a wooden stockade, making it the only walled city in the Mohawk Valley. After the French destroyed it in 1690, Schenectady was enlarged and was stockaded again. The stockade is long gone, but this old section of the city is still called the Stockade area. We will gather behind the church in the rear parking area. • All walkers must sign in between 1:00-1:25 and pay the $4 walk fee.
