So we will be Celebrating Winter Solstice with a Beautiful SUNSET!!

***This hike is limited to only **20 hikers** due to limited physical space on our viewing platform

***All participants must bring Flashlight or Headlamp.

***If the forecast is cloudy with no substantial rain or snow The start time will be moved to **1pm** and distance may be adjusted. No need to hike in the dark if we cant see the sun setting.

SUNSETS are beautiful and romantic! Kissing on the Winter Solstice (technically Dec 21st 2024 @ 4:21 am) is encouraged Lol.
We celebrate the shortest day of the year today!!

**COST**: $3 / Hikerbuddy at meetup location. Please be prepared to use our Venmo link. Our Venmo link will be posted in comments prior to arriving at the trailhead. OR Cash
**TRAIL RATING**: A bit Strenuous the first 1.5 miles. Super easy on the return trip.
**TYPE**: Rocky trail, Dirt (or snow) based, hiking on the Appalachian Trail
**DISTANCE**: 3.25 miles We will have a short moderately strenuous 1.5 mile hike to our special sunset viewing platform area. A platform that sits just at tree-top level. Sunset is at 4:35 pm. Afterwards, the headlamps are turned on for our hike back to the parking lot on a much easier walking route.
**DIRECTIONS**: Click Red Pin 📌 on Map for directions to our meetup location. Hiking duration, trail difficulty, ability and distance varys to each person. Know your ability! The hike in will be Short but will be a strenuous one at times as it will be on the rocky terrain of the Appalachian Trail. There has been a porta potty in the parking lot in the past. But no guarantee. What you might see: if mother nature allows we will see a beautiful sunset to the west.
**What to Bring**: HEADLAMPS &/Or FLASHLIGHTS (Not provided), the kids, your Best Friend, your Partner or your Lover! Dress for the weather. Bring water, food/snacks, Hot drinks are great. No alcoholic drinks permitted in the park. Personal first aid kit, Hiking shoe/boot recommended. Camera is definitely recommended.

Furry friends should be left home safe due to the terrain and limited space on the viewing platform.

**Meet**: 3:00PM in the Appalachian Trail parking lot ready to hike (Click On Map) We will start the hike by 3:15PM SHARP. **Plan to arive EARLY - be considerate to the group. ***If your running late, let me know via text 908-343-4530 by 2:30PM I will check them that day.
Understand the group WILL NOT wait for your late arrival. Sign up early, number of participants is limited to ONLY 20.

Inclement weather may cancel the hike.

Cell service can be Very spotty in the area of this hike.

**Agreement**: All participants understand there are certain hazards when hiking on any terrain. Please be aware of your surroundings while outdoors. When signing up for this hike you and your guests agree to hold Everyone harmless and you and your guests assume all risks while on these events.
