Meet at 9:30, depart by 10.
The 10km route is comprised of two 5km loops. An optional 1.5km loop through Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and an optional 1.7km walk to Authors’ Houses can extend the North Bridge loop making 10, 11, or 12km and 5, 6, or 7km distances possible. The North Bridge 5km initially crosses the Concord River on the way to Minute Man National Historical Park, passing the Minute Man statue and over the Old North Bridge where the “shot heard round the world” was fired by Colonial farmers on April 19, 1775. The route continues past the Old Manse (once home to Emerson and Hawthorne) before visiting the Colonial Inn, Monument Square, and the historic First Parish Church and on to the Concord Museum and Emerson House. The Natural Trail 5km goes along the Reformatory Branch Trail (originally a railroad right of way), through conservation land, and into Sleepy Hollow Cemetery to Authors’ Ridge. It continues alongside Sleepy Hollow Cemetery to return to the finish.
