A fantastic opportunity for a generally flat, peaceful and lovely walk across moorland followed by free entry to Brookwood Cemetery. You can always access the cemetery but I have not led this since 2019.

The walk is probably around 4 to 4.5 miles long and is circular, finishing off alongside the Wey Navigation and a road to the cars. If the cemetery part does not interest you, it would be very hard to get lost when the main group go to the cemetery but instructions are below and it is 10/15 minutes away.
I have said 2.5 hours, allowing 30 minutes at the cemetery. You can stay longer or less and head for the parts that interest you but it is so easy to find the car again so do not get worried about getting lost.
I lived in Knaphill for 20 years, which is the next village to Brookwood and never visited. Some of the headstones and gardens are very ornate and interesting. There is a Commonwealth site, Muslim burials and areas for Czechs, Poles, Swedes, Americans and many others making it different from so many other cemeteries. So if you want to visit this world famous, international cemetery, it is on these weekends that are best.

NO DOGS AND £4 PLEASE.

You can call me on 07395 004461 if you are late or lost. Catching up may not be easy after a couple of minutes so please allow time for delays.

IF LEAVING WHILST THE GROUP GO TO THE CEMETRY OR STAYING LONGER

At the bridge follow the towpath with the canal on your right, past at least two locks and when you reach the main road by another lock, turn left, go past The Nags Head and shortly you will reach Sainsburys on your right. On your left should be Oak Tree Road.

From the station having gone through the tunnel, bear left and follow the approach road back to the main road. Cross the road and follow the lane opposite. Go over the bridge, turn right and follow the towpath as instructed above.

I hope to see some of you.
