Ah! A stone’s throw from Toronto!

Hiked this picturesque trail last year - it's a Winter Wonderland!

So let’s enjoy our inaugural forest hike of 2025!

This 9.3-km out-and-back trail near King, Ontario is generally considered an easy route. It takes an average of 1 h 57 min to complete (We'll take about 3 hours). This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and running, so we’ll likely encounter other people while exploring.

This route follows beautiful trails through a forest and along Seneca Lake, past Eaton Hall and later on Mary Lake.

The paths are well-marked, with some boardwalks and bridges that are in very good condition.

We meet for 12:30 pm and aim to leave by 12:45 pm at the very latest.

Parking is $5.25 per vehicle. Last year, it wasn't in effect on the weekend, so I'm assuming this will be the case this year and the parking will be free once again.

I allow a 15 minute waiting period that takes into account events beyond our control during transit to the Meetup location.

If you don’t think you will arrive by 12:45 pm, please text me (not call) at 416 807 7596 using Whatsapp and I will allow you access to my phone’s location and you can meet up with us. Please text me before 12:30 pm.

I will be renting a Sedan that can accommodate 4 including myself (so 3 passenger seats are available @ $10 apiece). Oh, the camaraderie and bonding that will take place - great stepping stones for future friendships!

Let’s meet across from the front entrance of the Broadview Subway Station at 11:00 AM and aim to depart by 11:15 AM. We should arrive at Seneca College King Campus by 12:15 AM.

We'll aim to finish by 4:00/4:30 PM. Message me if you want one of the 3 spots in the sedan.

We'll make rest stops to stretch and accommodate Mother Nature.

For all others traveling to the Seneca College King Campus in their respective vehicles, please use the Meetup Bulletin Board for carpooling.

If you need a ride to the Meetup, try leaving a message on the Meetup message board. I've found there are many generous people in the group who I believe would be glad to be of assistance. If you need a ride after the Meetup, just ask around - nobody gets left behind!

The washrooms should be available at the Seneca College Security Office.

Bundle up - it's l cold out there! Don't forget to bring warm footwear with good traction and hot beverages!

I would recommend icers (crampon ice grippers or cleats) that fit over your boots if the conditions are icy and/or snowy.

We'll take short periodic breaks throughout the route to consume our hot beverages.

We'll maintain a 3.5 to 4.0 Km/hour pace.

We will make reservations at the Hunt Pub in the basement of Hogan's Inn Restaurant in King City for 5 pm. The pub is high end and offers great quality food.

**It is King City's coziest pub featuring old stone walls, warm fireplaces, excellent food and live music.**
