Bronzeville/Oakland Walk
Details
We will meet at Sip & Savor at 528 E 43rd Street. There should be plenty of free street parking as well as multiple bus lines nearby.
The first part of this walk will be packed with interesting and often overlooked history of Chicago. We'll visit a street lined with Cicero Hines homes that have undergone major transformations over the years. We will also see an art garden created by one of the residents of that historic block.
Other points of interest along the way include a defunct train station, the last surviving building associated with the Civil War, a controversial tomb, and a synagogue-turned-newspaper building.
If you can endure my historical information rambling, the last two-thirds will be just a walk.
