What weβre about
**Walking Wonders is looking for more co-hosts!! I am recovering from a broken ankle and unlikely to be hosting walks again until next year. Please help me out by hosting a walk. It's fun, I promise!**
Hi everyone π. I'm Caroline and I became the organiser of Walking Wonders in October 2021. My vision for this group is to be an inclusive, friendly and sociable walking group that isn't afraid to explore new ground while ensuring we regularly have easier, accessible walks. If you're trying to improve your fitness, like me, you'll fit right in! I'd love more people to struggle up hills with π. If you're more of a speedy gonzales, that's ok - lead the way. You don't have to go at my pace. Better still, host your own walk. Anyone who wants to host a walk is welcome to give it a go. It's not hard - just turn up on time and have some idea where you're going!
Walking Wonders has a grading system for all our walks, with Level 1 signifying easy, accessible walks and Level 5 being the most challenging. The purpose of the grading system is to help you identify where you're at in your fitness journey and choose the right level of walks for you, while also enabling you to challenge yourself. Please check back periodically as the grading system will continue to evolve:

If you have particular needs such as mobility issues, let me know and I'll make sure there are walks for you. Want to bring your children or your doggo? No problem, I usually check if walks are dog-friendly and I leave the decisions about suitability up to parents and fur-parents. Perhaps you feel anxious about meeting a group of strangers? Let me know how you're feeling and I'll make sure someone sticks with you.
I like to combine walks with optional social activities such as brunch, hot pools and anything else that comes to mind (suggestions are welcome). Please check each walk's arrangements carefully in the Meetup app (don't rely on the email as it doesn't provide the full event description) in case an activity requires you to provide additional information or bring cash for an entry fee etc. Please also note that a gold coin is requested from each participant on each walk to help with Meetup fees.
And finally, a reminder that all members are expected to behave in a courteous and appropriate manner towards other members. This includes not sending unsolicited messages to other members that are not about specific Meetup events. We're all here to meet people and have fun, and we need to feel safe at the same time :-).
Please get in touch if you have any feedback or ideas and I hope to see you on a walk soon!
