With three new landowners recently coming on board with the Wampum Chapter's proposed new section of NCT in Elk Run Twp. Ohio we have the route pretty well nailed down now. We're awaiting National Park Service approval to begin construction, so in the meantime our Regional Trail Coordinator and a representative from the Student Conservation Association out of Cleveland would like to take a look at the work that will need to be done to open this new 2.5 miles of off road trail. We'll take this walk on Monday, November 18th, meeting at the Elkton Community Park at 9:00 AM.
This will be a one-way hike of approximately 2.5 miles, and although we'll be following the canal towpath in some areas, we'll be scrambling and bushwacking through some other stretches. Wear appropriate footwear, and blaze orange is the dress code of the day as it is hunting season. Bring along drinking water and a snack if you'd like - this walk will take somewhere between 2.5 to 3 hours depending upon how much stopping, chatting, and planning we do along the way.
Hope to see you in Elkton on Monday the 18th!
