What we’re about

Since 2002, the Washington Jesuit Academy has worked to advance educational equity and expand educational opportunities for deserving young men from under-resourced communities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. As a tuition-free, independent, Jesuit Catholic school, WJA’s mission is to provide a high-quality, comprehensive education that advances students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth.

WJA’s 11 hours/day, 11 months/year middle school program for young men in grades 4-8 combines a rigorous academic curriculum with holistic support. Each school day at WJA includes three nutritious meals; academic enrichment, extracurricular clubs, and athletics; mental health support from counselors and social workers; and academic support from learning specialists.

We support our students “from 4th grade through a lifetime” by helping them persist in their education and achieve their long-term goals. Through programming such as high school placement support and intensive college admissions and financial aid counseling, WJA’s Office of Student and Alumni Success ensures our alumni have the resources and support they need to graduate from high school and fulfill their college and career aspirations.
