Name: Water View Walk: Weverton to Garvey Shelter On The AT

This hike is part of the Water View series of hikes as hosted by Chip and Sophie on a very popular section of the Appalachian Trail. Parking for Weverton Cliffs to Garvey Shelter, return to the Weverton Overlook then back down to the parking lot. The Weverton Overlook is considered one of the best along the entire AT, with a great view of The Potomac River.

Total hike is about 6.5 miles, steep climb first section and descent for the end of hike. Decent hiking shoes/boots and trekking poles recommended. If snow or ice, mini spikes may be needed. Trail is rocky on some sections.

I hope we don't have the unexpected excitement we had last year. No close up view of the Maryland Medivac Helicopter again.

The Harpers Ferry Brewery is a five minute drive for the after hike celebration for those that conquered the climb .
