We host lectures and workshops to nourish hungry souls on the inner journey. Since 1974, we’ve brought Jungian thought-leaders from around the world to Portland - from Marion Woodman to James Hillman to Joseph Campbell. About this talk:
Those who cannot perform normative cultural narratives often find their voices silenced. Queer Theory offers us a new framework for working with old material. To queer an experience is to resist defining it. Queerness may provide a place to stand within oneself while also standing in the energy of an Exile complex that can be embraced as a new path towards individuation. We will explore the connections to be made between Queer Theory and Jungian concepts of Individuation, Complex Theory, Weltanschauung, and Active Imagination.

DAVID SOLEM, MSW, MAPC, MA, MM, is a diplomate Jungian analyst through IRSJA-IAAP. He is a training analyst on the faculties of the C.G. Jung Institute of Santa Fe, the C.G. Jung Institute of Philadelphia, and of the Memphis-Atlanta Jungian Seminar. He is a guest training analyst for the C.G. Jung Institute of Zurich, Kuesnacht. His publications appear in Psychological Perspectives (2017), Quadrant (2018), and the Journal of Analytical Psychology (2019 and 2021). David is in private clinical practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
