Komata hut. Three days two nights.

Komata hut is the old Comet hut moved to a spot along the Ngaruroro River for paddlers to use on their whitewater journey through the gorge.

For trampers, it is a steep 1000m descent on a new and exposed route. We will take our time tramping slowly and carefully hence leave Paraparaumu 5pm on Fri, drive to Taihape for the night then start our tramp fresh early Sat morning. I have booked the 8 bed Villa at 1 Kuki Rd Taihape. $55 pp. It is a long drive with the Comet Rd entrance off the Taihape/Napier Rd. Sun is a big climb back up the steep route and back to Wellington.
This trip is for experienced well equipped trampers only. You are responsible for your own safety. Be properly prepared, do your own research. Navigational decisions will be by mutual team agreement.
If more than five people we will need a small van or two cars. I can drive our station wagon seats 5 with gear.
