Details

Moderate 10miles/16.1km Ascent:1148ft/350m circular

This is a circular walk starting from the village famous for being the butt of many jokes. The first half will take us through the beautiful North Kent countryside to the High Elms country park, originally the home of the Lubbock family and now the location of the Green Roof Cafe and the lunch stop. The walk then returns via part of the London loop to Downe and Charles Darwin's home at Down House, back to Pratts Bottom.

It is a largely quiet and off-road route, though a few steep inclines in places. It will, of course, be muddy at this time of year. There is free parking around village green opposite the Bull's Head, though please park considerably for the local residents. The old jeans advert used to say that their product was 'tougher than living in Pratts Bottom', but after this walk around this picturesque part of Kent, you will probably want to disagree.

NB: There is a £2 payment required for non-Ramblers Assoc. members to help cover our Meetup costs. Please help the walk leader by bringing the exact change.

Ramblers members are welcome on any of our walks, but we would still encourage you to RSVP on Meetup. This will give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending, and also keep the numbers manageable. If, on the day of the walk, you are still on the waiting list and a Ramblers member, you can attend - just let the walk leader know you are coming by adding a comment 'Coming as a Rambler'. You will find the start location via our website
Our Walks (westkentwalkinggroup.org.uk).
