Contra-Dance
Details
November 22: Band: Gooder 'N Grits, Caller: Juliette Levy-Weston from Lansing
At St. Adalbert’s Hall, AKA 5th St. Hall, 701 5 th St. NW, corner of Davis. 2nd floor, up a long staircase. Parking on the street or in lot across from the entrance. Great wooden dance floor. Bring a snack to share, if you like.
Contradances are FUN! Much like square dancing, with live caller and band. All dances taught. No need to bring a partner. If a “jam band” is specified, other musicians can bring their fiddle, mandolin, guitar, etc. and play along.
$12 general admission, $10 seniors, $8 members, $6 students, $20 families. Beginner instruction 7:00, regular dancing 7:30 to 10:30 or so.
This is a regular dance that happens twice a month. So there will be many other people dancing, no matter how many sign up to this meetup.
Finally, remember you can come alone or with a partner. While each dance you start with a particular partner, to contra dance means that ultimately all will dance with all to the live traditional music.
