Itinerary
Meet outside the visitor centre. We start by walking down the famous cobbled Sedber Lane to Linton Falls. Cross over the bridge and walk down Church Lane to the B6160, cross over and walk aloing Lauradale Lane to the hamlet of Linton. We turn off onto Garros Lane and follow it through Linton until it turns into a dirt road and then a footpath.
We follow the footpath through fields and along various becks until we come out at Threaplands Farm & Campsite. We walk through the farm onto Thorpe Lane. We follow this road until it merges with the main road to Grassington. We walk along the main road (there's a pavement to walk on) through the village of Cracoe to Chapel Lane and veer off onto it.
We then follow this dirt road to St. Peter's Church an veer off onto another dirt road called Bolton Abbey Bridleway. The next dirt road starts our ascent up onto the moors to Rylstone Cross (pictured). Up until now it has been a fairly flat walk with a small amount of ascent/descent through the farmland. The next bit is a 180m ascent up to Rylstone Cross. Where we can stop for lunch and enjoy the views from up here.
The ascent continues as we now walk along the edge of the hillside steadily up to Cracoe War Memorial (in the shape of an obelisk). This bit is approx a 120m ascent. If anyone wants to bag a trig point, there's one not far away and a bit higher up on Thorpe Fell. We now steadily descend off Thorpe Fell, down to Thorpe Fell Lane, we follow this road down and through the hamlet of Thorpe. We walk down Kali Lane back to the B6160 from earlier. We walk along this briefly before veering off onto a footpath.
The walk ends by following this footpath over Stickhaw Hill (barely any ascent to it) to Church Road from earlier. Then back over Linton Falls and up Sedber Lane to the car park. We can then go into Grassington for their Christmas markets, food & drink.
