FAQ:
Do I need to wear a mask? If you have a respiratory virus, the CDC currently recommends that you stay home, to prevent the spread of respiratory virsus. If you follow that recommendation we will be happy to see you at the following month's Meetup. Masking and proof of vaccinations may no longer be mandatory, but both measures can still be wise precautions.
Where should I park? Parking is available all around the building.
Where is the meeting room? The meeting room is about 40 yards straight across from the main entrance when you come into the building. To our gamer friends who have personal mobility concerns, are happy to announce that there is now an elevator that goes down to the meeting area. It is rated for single-use in a wheelchair, total weight rating of 750 lbs / 340 kg. The lift does require some maintained effort / pressing a button to operate. The doors in the establishment also require the ability to physically open and manipulate them. The restroom however has handrails. We understand this will not meet the needs of people with every disability, but we are pleased to report this progress.
Can I bring food and drink? There is a cost to reserve the room at the event, but food and drink purchases go toward that, so I would like to ask that you be a patron and try out some food or drinks from the menu while you enjoy some games. The restaurant is cash only. However, there is a PNC bank a few minutes down the road (I know I often only carry a card with me unless I am going to a place that only takes cash).
What if my game is running later than 9pm? We are scheduled for 1pm-9pm, so please plan on wrapping up any final games by 9pm.
So at our events, our volunteers and game enthusiasts have experience in teaching anyone and everyone some of the latest games in the boardgaming market as well as some of the modern classics as well, in cozy or large group events (we have been hosting events since 2014!) This is our quirky hobby. We bring the games, and you can too, but what we need more is your willingness to take a chance and join in. If you have watched Tabletop on the Geek and Sundry YouTube Channel, you have a pretty good idea of the sort of things that we have been up to.
A little about what we play: the organizers always bring a lot of games to play but if there is something that you are interested in playing or learning just make a note in the event chat comments below. Today’s board games come in all Shapes, sizes, themes, and components, and our group plays all kinds.
Anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Our organizers try to be very accommodating to new players, and try to pick games appropriate to your skill level and that we think you would enjoy. Our goal is to get you enthusiastic about the hobby. We have games, we want to make more gamers!
If there is a game you would like to try out, just suggest it down in the chat comments below. Chances are that one of us has it in our collection and we can bring it out.
During our events, people drop in and drop out as time permits them to do. You don’t have to come for the entire day or stay once you are there, but plenty of folks do. Please do r.s.v.p. so I have an estimate of how many people are coming, and what games to bring along. You can always cancel your r.s.v.p. if you have a change in plans, and you can always drop in, even if you have not made an r.s.v.p. Hope you find some time on this particular weekend to spend some of your afternoon or evening with us.
