Subscription for 2025.

Thank you to all of you who have already paid.

Meetup has increased its subscription pricing, doubling the amount that I pay. For this group, the increase became effective from 19th October 2024, the annual renewal date.

Clearly the new owners of Meetup are wanting to see a return on their investment.

In my opinion, Meetup remains the best platform. At least for now.

In response to this change, I have considered how best to keep the group’s finances broadly neutral. That is, you don’t pay too much, and I don’t profiteer at your expense, but still I’m not left out of pocket.

Here’s what I propose.

I would like your subscription payment of £10 (the cost of 3 cappuccinos) to secure your membership of the group from the start of the 2025 year.

In return, I will stand the additional cost for what remains of 2024 and will make no charge for walks scheduled in the five months January 2025 through to May 2025. I would expect 15-20 walks in this period including the first tranche of shorter evening walks.

From 1st June normal charges will resume; £2 for day walks, £1 for evening walks. No one will be expected to pay more than £25 in the year.

To control who’s in and who’s out, who’s paid and who hasn’t, I will delete anyone who has not paid their subscription for the coming year by 15th December.

If you find yourself removed from the group, you can always apply to re-join, pay the subscription amount and you’ll be back in.
