**Brasstown Bald / Hiking the Arkaquah Trail**

**Moderate (but has a steep climb starting out) / 7 miles**

**Let’s take a scenic hike through the heart of the Appalachian Mountains and immerse ourselves in the region's beauty. This challenging yet rewarding trail winds its way along the crest of Brasstown Bald, which is the highest point in Georgia. As we navigate the rugged terrain, we will pass by beautiful overlooks that stretch across rolling hills and picturesque valleys.**

**This trail begins at Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, and ends at Track Rock, an ancient archeological site containing petroglyphs that are thought to have been carved in the Archaic Period (8000-1000 B.C.).**

**We are going to hike approximately 7 miles. We will do the steep, paved climb to the top of the observation tower at Brasstown Bald and then begin the hike. We will eat lunch along the way. The last 1.5 miles of the trail are a very steep descent, so hiking poles are optional but may come in handy. This hike is not a loop, so we will shuttle cars from the Brasstown Bald parking area to Track Rock before the hike.**
