WINES AGED IN SPIRITS BARRELS
Details
Aging wines in barrels used previously for the production of spirits (whiskey, bourbon, rum, sherry, etc.) is a growing trend. This process can add distinct flavors to the finished wine.
For our next session, each attendee is invited to bring a bottle of a wine that they have found that is a good example of one of the spirit barrel -aged wines.
Each amateur sommelier will then have a chance to pop that cork, pour a taste for everyone and tell us why you think your selection is interesting. (Some research may be required.)
I will provide some tasting glasses but if you have some of your own, bring them along.
If you want to bring some food items to accompany your presentation, that would be welcome also. (Chocolate items might pair well with some spirit barrel-aged wines.)
I have reserved a large outdoor table for us on the recreation deck of our condo building in Kakaako. (Access details will be sent on the day before the event to those who RSVP.
Because of space restrictions, we can only accommodate about a dozen people for this event.
If you’re certain you will attend, please sign up soon so we can get a count of how many people to expect.
Hope to see you there,
Bob
