Let’s take the Boat Taxi to Peanut Island, picnic, and snorkel
Details
The last time we went to Peanut Island the snorkeling was amazing
It’s listed in TripAdvisor as one of the top things to do in our area. Like being inside an aquarium, the inlet just southwards brings in all manner of colorful fish and sea life. I have snorkeled with a shy nurse shark, a banded sea snake, large parrotfish, and loads of other colorful fish.
There is a regular shuttle boat that runs from Riviera Beach area by Blue Heron Bridge across to Peanut Island every half hour or so.
MyLet’s go and bring our picnic and beach chairs as well as snorkel gear if you like and enjoy some beach time on this cute little island just inside the ocean inlet near Singer Island. Tickets are $20 first come first served. You can buy your confirmed ticket online for $25. Not a bad idea as season geta busier.
Check out the phone number in the attached photos if you want further information.

The ferry is first come first served. The boat travels every 25 minutes so if you don’t get on the first boat with our group, you should be able to follow us very soon afterwards. My phone number will be in the comments below.
We will all bring a chair, water shoes, picnic snack and beverages (see statements on alcohol) and maybe an umbrella. The walk from the ferry boat dock drop off is not far to the beach area where the good snorkeling is. Your ticket is Purchased at the dock at Riviera Beach when you arrive and is for the round-trip so you can catch any ferry back anytime you like. There is parking as well at the dock where we pick up the ferry boat.
From Reviews:
“Peanut Island, the 80-acre tropical island located at the west end of the Palm Beach (Lake Worth) Inlet, is a get-there-by-only-boat county park, where long strings of boats raft up while hundreds of people socialize in the shallow off-shore water….
There are two snorkeling spots — a small reef and a larger lagoon — on the east side of the island, where the incoming tide sweeps in an ever-changing variety of sea critters. Cushion starfish as well as reef dwellers such as parrotfish and angelfish are common visitors. Visibility is superb but be wary of strong currents.
A 1.25-mile paved trail circles the entire island. From it, you have access to a boardwalk through the mangroves on the west side. On the east side, a boardwalk spans the reef area.”
“sand is rocky with shells, especially by the shore… Bring ater shoes to protect your feet and comfortable to walk. You can bring a beach wagon for $5. Free for beach chairs, umbrellas, food. PBC says no alcohol.
The lagoon and rock jettiea are Awesome places to snorkle. Take your own snorkle or rent one for $20 per snorkle.
There is no food for purchase on the island and no restaurant. There are bathrooms and showers. There are picnic tables and barbeques. You must go early because its first come first serve. The water is crystal clear.”
As always, be mindful of your RSVP, so that we don’t look out for you. My phone number will be in the private comments below if you have any questions.
