Easy Kayak John D MacArthur Park

Details

John D, MacArthur Park is a beautiful gift from the MacArthur family to the residents of Florida. This beautiful park boasts a tidal shallow area that feeds into the intercoastal waterway under the bridge to some very cute islands. You can see bald eagles, pelicans, fish leaping out of the water, and if lucky, even some manatees.
We willl meet at the Kayak rental area by the Gift shop. High tide is 10:00am so this shouod be a great day for kayaking with lots of water. Folks have reported seeing Manatees as well.
i usually wear a swimsuit and shorts or wet water gear as these are heavy sit on top kayaks and water shoes or sandals that can get wet. A hat for the sun is a good idea, as well as sunscreen. You may wish to also bring a dry bag or baggie for your keys, phone, and wallet. I like to bring a water bottle that I place between my feet.
I will update as to weather and tide conditions the day befire the event in case if rain, cold, or high wind conditionsI

If you purchase an annual individual membership pass for $75, you get unlimited free kayak rentals for one calendar year. What a bargain! Or you can rent a kayak for a very reasonable fee, which includes life raft and paddle for. $15/hour. And we probably won’t paddle much longer than that. Here a link to the Park information.

We will paddle out slowly as we enjoy the mindful and meditative silence of the birds and fishes and the beautiful nature surrounding us. We will probably head over to the little island under the bridge in hopes of seeing some manatees on the western side of the MacArthur Boulevard Parkway.
Afterwards, if the weather is lovely, and anyone feels like it, we will return our gear to our cars and grab our picnic lunches and bathing suits and head to the beach. MacArthur has free golf carts that will carry us and our chairs over to one of the most beautiful beaches in this area. Very wide white sands and uncrowded beach areas. What a lovely picnic area. Feel free to call me with any questions.
And as always, please be mindful of your RSVP as we will only wait a few minutes aftet the departure time. There are bathrooms at the Kayak check in as well.
