Let's celebrate the light and return of gradually longer days by greeting the sunrise and then hiking. Sunrise is at 7:23 a.m. on this date; I would like to be on the boardwalk over the lake by 7:15 to see the sun rise over the lake. I plan to arrive early and hike the short distance down to the boardwalk in the semi-dark, but the hike will not begin til 7:30 from the boardwalk.

I plan to hike 2.5 miles and turn around for a total of 5 miles, but you can turn around whenever you'd like. This is my favorite section of the Falls Lake trail because of the cool boardwalks.

Adult women only.

Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome - one per handler please. Dogs must remain on leash and under control at all times.

We will hike at a steady 3 mph pace.

There are no bathrooms at this trailhead.
