If you enjoy the hiking in the great outdoors, but prefer a bed over camping, then this overnight visit to the fabulous Len Foote Hike Inn is for you! The Inn is accessible only by foot over a moderate 5-mile hiking trail.

What to expect:
Located near Dawsonville and Dahlonega, the Len Foote Hike Inn at Amicalola Falls State Park is a back country inn with 2-person private rooms with comfy bunk beds, a bathhouse with hot showers, sinks, hair dryers, and odor free compost toilets. Bed linens, pillows, towels, and wash cloths are provided.
There are no trash cans at the Inn, you need to plan to pack back out whatever trash you may have. There are no outlets in the bunk rooms. Cell phone use is strongly discouraged at the Inn.
Enjoy delicious meals served family style in their dining room. A typical menu is meat and vegetables, salad, bread, and a homemade dessert. Vegetarian meals are available on request, let them know when you make your reservation. Breakfast is always hearty and typically includes scrambled eggs, grits, and bacon or sausage. If you would like to purchase a sack lunch for the hike out on Sunday, they are available for an additional cost. A typical lunch includes your choice of sandwich, fruit or trail mix, and one of the Hike Inn's famous giant "Amicalicious" cookies.

There is cell phone service along most of the trail, as well as around some areas of the Inn.
Pets are not allowed at the Hike Inn.

What to Wear:
Wear sturdy, comfortable boots or shoes and bring more than one change of socks. Layered, lightweight clothing will allow you to adjust to temperature changes without having to carry too many clothes in your pack. Bring your rain gear or a poncho. Don't forget your trekking poles! We will be hiking in the winter, please do not wear cotton for your own comfort and safety.

What to Bring:
You only need to bring personal items, including clothing, toiletries (body wash and shampoo pumps provided in each shower). You will need snacks or a lunch for the trail for both days. Bring plenty of water for the trail! You will be able to refill your water bottles before hiking back out on Sunday. You need to plan to pack back out whatever trash you may have. I always carry a large ziploc for my trash.
Remember a flashlight, camp shoes (like crocs), sun screen and a small first aid kit. Many guests also bring a camera to capture the scenic beauty.

Upon Arrival:
You must stop at the Amicalola Falls State Park Visitors Center to check in before proceeding to the parking area for Hike Inn guests. Upon check in you will receive a trail map and a parking permit for the Hike Inn parking area.
If you want to hike with the group, plan to meet at 11:00 am in the Hike Inn parking area. If you don't hike with the group, you must check-in at the Visitors Center by 2:00 pm.
There is a State Park entrance fee for Amicalola Falls State Park. You can also check with your local library for a State Park Pass.

This is a "rain/snow or shine" event. The Inn's policy is not to issue refunds or credits for late cancellations except for unusually extreme weather such as hurricanes or ice storms. If rain or snow is expected, we will still hike to the Inn.

Len Foote Hike Inn is a family friendly facility, so there may be children and men there during our visit that are not a part of our group.
