We haven't gotten this "religious" in a while, but I would like to shift gears from general topics to one more pointed, and appropriate for a Sunday.
Jesus asked His disciples: "Who do men say that I am?" Then He asked Peter directly: "Who do you say that I am?"
This is a very important question.
Different ways people have answered this question:
- A great teacher
- A prophet
- Just a man
- The incarnate Son of God
- A myth made up
- Whatever people want to believe about Him makes it so
I'm interested in how you would answer this question. Further, since there is really only one primary source for what we know about Jesus (though there are a few sources outside of the Bible, they are rather scant in their detail), I would also like to know how/why you believe what you do about Jesus. This takes us back to the epistemology discussion - how do we (claim to) know what we know?
I will be have some beer and snacks on hand. First beer is free for anyone, after that a contribution would be appreciated (though not required). You may also bring your own, to share or not to share.
