WordPress security: beginner workshop, and a case study of defending a website
Details
WordPress websites out-of-the-box can be easy targets for hackers and bots.
In this informal workshop, we'll talk about what makes websites vulnerable, and some simple security measures for hardening sites. We'll help you set these measures up on your website, so bring your laptop and Admin login!
Then, for those who are interested, we'll review a case study of a WordPress site under intense attack from hacker bots and the measures that were taken to successfully defend it, including setting up .htaccess rules and Cloudflare.
As usual, we'll have time for questions, discussions, and help. Bring your WordPress problems and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction!
We are meeting in-person at our space at NIU Naperville:
Room 166
1120 E Diehl Rd Naperville, IL
Some events are hybrid; also presented on zoom. Those will be noted in the event description, and a Zoom link will be generated before the meetup and posted to the event page.
Every 3rd Tuesday of the month
