This is a circular walk from the centre of Painswick. We will depart at 10.45am from the free car park in Stamages Lane, Painswick (GL6 6UZ – What3Words ///softly.invite.diverting). Please ensure that you arrive in plenty of time in case you have to find a parking space on the main roads in the town.
From the car park we will pass through Painswick Church Garden with its many yew trees, continuing up through the town to Painswick Hill and then Painswick Golf Course. We skirt briefly around the edge of the Golf Course before reaching Painswick Beacon and taking in its fine views. This is the steepest section of the walk with only one short climb uphill after this point.
Leaving Painswick Beacon, we descend and cross Cud Hill Common before passing through lovely, hidden valleys and returning to our starting point in Painswick via Ham Butts.
It may be muddy underfoot in places. Dogs need to be kept on a lead across some fields.
