Welcome everyone!
Hi, I’m Matt cooper, and I am looking forward to meet each one of you.
Assembly of telescope: ~4:45pm
Start of yoga: 5:45pm
Start of sunset: ~5:50pm
Cloudy or not, we will still have the yoga portion of this event
Side note: I have scheduled this event with an early time setting, to give time for me to assemble my teleacope and for those that wish to come early and learn how to assemble the telescope and calibrate its home position - before the yoga starts and therafter, what know will be breathtaking stargazing, as offered by the earth’s window to the sky - I simply enjoy facilitating your viewing of it..
This event is in Richardson away from city lights (to an extent) more details with pics on the comments section to help you find the exact spot at the park
Note: Those attending for the astronomy MUST also do the yoga part of the event - inexpensive yoga mats are available at Target, TJ Max and many other stores.
Bring a yoga mat, towel (for wiping off sweat), and water bottle. If you have a yoga block or that would be great too
We will place our mats near the center of this small park.
This will be largly Yin Yoga - this entails 1 minute long poses that relieve the tension we all build up in our bodies throughout sleep and daytime. This type of posing should keep us warm during this wintertime event!
After yoga I will point to each prominent star, planet and a few constellations in the sky.
More to say later at the event. Feel free to ask anything in the comments section.
There is a restroom at this park
PS, I will bring “glow in the dark” 1 inch wide label tape for people to take and write their names - this sometimes helps it be not so quirky remembering people's names when we talk as a group doing yoga or at the telescope looking at the night sky. Just bring me the labels back after the event, for erasing and reuse.
Not everyone needs to use the name labels. Just use one if you see fit. I will have them simply with me as we start the event.
