Depth of field - presentation and practical
Details
Following on from our talk and practical on some camera basics, this week we’ll be exploring depth of field - how much either side of the focus point is actually in focus - in more detail.
We’ll look at what it means, what affects it and if there’s time, a quick look at hyperfocal distance and what that actually means. We will also make time to practice with our cameras.
You will need:
A camera, preferably with a zoom lens.
A tripod if you have one, but this is not essential.
The session will be particularly suitable for beginners, but all are welcome

We welcome photographers of all levels, including those who enjoy using their smartphones. Whether you're a beginner or a professional, we offer a friendly environment for you to share your passion for photography.
Our activities are really just an excuse to get together to mess about with our cameras, to make some new friends and above all to get shooting!
Because we meet regularly, many members of the group just come along without signing up, so there are generally more people attending than it may appear. Don't worry if there are only a couple of people signed up, there is always a crowd.
Activities normally start at 7 pm, so please arrive a bit early. The cost is pay-as-you-feel, with a suggested donation of £2 towards group running costs, including teas and coffees. Feel free to donate more or less than this.
Every week on Wednesday until February 5, 2025
