Wistow, Cawood & the River Ouse - 7 miles
Details
Second run-out for this walk. A dead flat walk unless you classify walking on top of a flood embankment as a ‘hill’!
This is a walk in the area between York & Selby (off the A19) and is also accessible via the Naburn turn-off, very close to the A64/A19 junction. We start from the village of Wistow and head across fields & footbridges over to the neighbouring village of Cawood. From here we pick up the path along the flood embankment with the Ouse guiding us back to our start point.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.
Start point/Parking: if travelling along the B1223 from Cawood, when you get to Wistow you will pass the Black Swan pub on your rhs with the church on your lhs, then take your 2nd left (sp Village Hall), which is Pinfold Hill. Roadside parking available on this street and adjoining streets. We will meet outside the pub, postcode of which is YO8 3UU.
After-walk refreshment at the Black Swan.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
