The Village Route - 6.5 miles
Details
A walk not led for a couple of years. An easy, flat walk ideal for the muddy season as a chunk of it is along quiet country lanes/pavements although there are field tracks too. En-route we pass through/skirt around four villages, namely: Askham Richard, Bilbrough, Copmanthorpe & Askham Bryan.
Start point: Roadside parking in Askham Richard village centre, where there is a village green, a pond and the now closed Rose & Crown pub. Car sharing is recommended for this one
The postcode of the pub is YO23 3PT. The village can be easily accessed from the A64 or via the B1224 Wetherby road and also York’s northern ring road (A1237).
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink with you for a short morning break, we’ll be finished by lunch-time.
After-walk refreshment: The Grange Coffee Shop & Garden Centre, just along the road from our start point.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
