Boston Spa - 8 miles
Details
Boston Spa is located minutes from the A1 so an ideal location for many of our members travelling from a variety of directions.
This is an easy eight mile walk so a good opportunity to get those legs walking again after the festive gorging.
We start from the pleasant settlement of Boston Spa, walking along the river Wharfe to Jackdaw Crag, up through the wooded Deep Dale, heading through the village of Clifford and then across fields to eventually pick up the river again for our final stretch.
Given the route we take, our morning break will be soon after the walk starts and our lunch stop will be at around 1.30pm.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.
After-walk refreshment at The Crown pub. Its located on the main street and an ideal venue for a group.
Start location: Stables Lane free car park, signposted off the main street. Postcode is LS23 6BX. Alternative parking in a few nearby streets and another free car park is immediately before the imposing church if travelling from the A1 end. However, this is a ten minute walk to our start point so please factor in. Likewise, toilets are available next to the library on the main street – almost opposite Stables Lane – but please do not delay the start of the walk!
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
