You Are Retiring – Now What?
Details
Most of us look forward to the day when we can leave the job behind and embrace the freedom that retirement brings. Maybe you have carefully planned financially for retirement, or plan to work part-time, but haven’t thought much about what activities will bring joy, meaning, and purpose into your life. Maybe you have already retired and are facing a sense of emptiness. Often just focusing on fun activities that you enjoyed while working, such as golf or cooking, can feel rather unsatisfying after a while. A sense of contributing to society and giving back based on your life experience is one way to fill the void. But figuring out how to do this can feel daunting. People entering later life often suffer an identity crisis, and a return of the questions: Who am I? What are my values? What do I believe? What matters most to me? How can I give back to the common good?
This Meetup group is meant to help you navigate the transition to the next chapter of your life consciously so that you can experience the sense of freedom, joy, and satisfaction that you have dreamed of. Connecting with others that are at the same stage of life can be very supportive on your journey. Each group will start with an introduction to a topic, followed by a discussion of the topic and sharing of your own experiences on the road to retirement.
We will be using the book The Inner Work of Age: Shifting from Role to Soul by Connie Zweig, PhD as a reference, though it is not necessary to have the book.
Every 2 weeks on Friday until December 12, 2024
