Hike from Brunnadern to Herisau

Let's take advantage of the beautiful weather and hike from Brunnadern to Herisau! The first part leads us over a ridge to the Wilkethöchi, with 1'172 m above sea level the highest point of the hike. We continue on the route 952 to Degersheim (for a precise description see https://schweizmobil.ch/en/hiking-in-switzerland/route-952). From there we continue on route 22 to Herisau (see https://schweizmobil.ch/en/hiking-in-switzerland/route-22/stage-1 [we won't make the whole way]). The ravine of the Wissbach as well as the typical Appenzell countryside expect us!

MEETING:
Meeting point is Zurich main station under the blue Angel at 7.45 am. Be aware that I will join you at the railway station of Brunnadern-Neckertal.

• Difference in altitude: 1'220 m up and 1'115 m down

HOW TO GET THERE:

• Departure from Zurich main station: 7.54 am (track 43/44, S5 towards Pfäffikon SZ)
• Arrival in Rapperswil SG: 8.31 am
• Departure from Rapperswil SG: 8.37 am (track 5, S4 towards St. Gallen)
• Arrival in Brunnadern-Neckertal: 9.05 am

WAY BACK:
I expect us to take the train in Herisau at 5.02 pm (arrival in Zurich main station at 6.21 pm). However, it would be nice to have dinner in Herisau and enjoy some of the local specialities.
