Name: Brumley Forest Nature Preserve, North - 10am Wednesday - Durham - and lunch

This 3.2 mile, mostly flat hike wanders the three-leafed-clover shape of the trails in Brumley Forest, north off Old NC 10. We'll take it slowly to enjoy the sights, vs. a faster exercise hike. The trail begins adjacent to a stone labyrinth and leads through mature pine forest and near sections of Stoney Creek, on to several small meadows and three different small ponds where we may spot nesting geese, sunning turtles, and photographers with long lenses. Portions of these woods are home to tangles of mature grape vines looping here and there. In high summer, the small meadows are lush with tall wildflowers, including that rather exotic looking spotted bee balm.

Plan on about an hour and a half for this shorter walk. Afterwards, please consider joining us in caravanning over to the nearby New Hope Market for lunch - a quick 7 minute drive south, on hwy 86.
