50+ Women’s Orange County Hiking

This hiking group is for women ages 50+ who appreciate the natural world and enjoy small-group socialization with a focus on getting to know each other.

We offer hikes of about 4-6 miles in and around Orange County. Hikes are generally two hours’ duration during weekdays. While we typically maintain an energetic pace, we do encourage members’ engagement with their natural surroundings.

Members are welcome to bring adult women guests but the events are not suitable for children. If you wish to bring a guest, add +1 to your RSVP.

Participants may bring a dog, but it must be restrained in hand at all times on a leash of no more than six feet long, and kept close to the group member. It must be kept out of the way of people both in the Meetup group and other users of the trails. The dog must not be permitted to contact people or other dogs without the permission of the other person.

We walk in just about any weather, but watch the event page for possible cancellations. Ordinarily a cancellation will not be announced until the morning of the event, so watch the event page if you have any weather concerns.

IMPORTANT: Please provide a recent closeup photo of yourself when applying to our group so that others will be able to recognize you when you attend. (Photo to include no other people, no hat or sunglasses – face fully visible.)

EVENT SIGNUP, START TIME AND NO SHOWS:
Our Meetup event participation is limited to small groups. Members who sign up for an event are expected to attend, so sign up only if you are pretty certain you will be attending. Please arrive prior to the designated start time.

Because event participation is capped to keep the group small, these events fill up and spill over into a waiting list. If your plans change, please change your Meetup event RSVP to “Not Going” immediately so the first person on the waitlist will be auto-notified in plenty of time to attend.

Members who are "No Shows" more than once may be removed from the group and blocked from rejoining.

Membership is for active group participants. Periodically, members who have not participated in recent months’ activities may be dropped.

By joining this group, 50+ Women’s Orange County Hiking, the participant agrees and understands that taking part in the group’s activities can be hazardous and involves the risk of physical injury or even death, and agrees to be responsible for their own health and safety during any events, as well as the safety of their belongings. The participant understands that the organizers and other participants are not responsible for their safety, and acknowledges that the group’s activities can be inherently hazardous and fully realizes and assumes the risks of participating in the activity. The risks and dangers of the activity include, but are not limited to: physical demands and exertion, hot or cold ambient temperatures and/or precipitation, slippery, rough, muddy, rocky, or uneven footing, tripping and falling, changing weather conditions, and animals. Participants acknowledge and understand that the description of the risks listed above is not complete.

EVENT PARTICIPANT WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
To the fullest extent allowed by law, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive and release this group (50+ Women’s Orange County Hiking), and all of its organizers and event hosts from all claims of liability of every type (including court costs and legal fees) for any and all injury, damage or death or loss to my person or property arising out of or related to my participation as a group member.  I understand that this waiver also applies to any other party who may accompany me (such as any +1 guests that I invite) in these endeavors.
