Let's go explore a more southerly destination! Mid-December the group will head to the White Pines Nature Preserve, a 285-acre park managed by the Triangle Land Conservancy and nestled into the elbow of the confluence of the Rocky River and the Deep River, between Pittsboro and Sanford, NC.

Organizer Sarah will confirm the details of the proposed 5+ mile loop prior to our hike date, but it appears to involve modest ups & downs similar to our Eno River hikes. There are NO rock hop water crossings. We will aim to walk virtually all the trails in the park. Due to the two rivers and north-facing rocky bluffs, the park can be as much as ten degrees cooler than downtown Pittsboro, only a few miles away. The preserve is home to a delightfully wide range of flora and fauna.
