What we’re about

The Bay Area Women's Hiking Group is a place for women to meet, inspire each other and experience nature in the company of other women. Our hikes create a fun, welcoming and comfortable dynamic and explore the stunning diversity of trails we are so lucky to have in the Bay Area. Our groups stay small so we connect with other each other; we generally have 8-15 hikers and never more than 25 on a hike. Join us, we love good hikes and good company!

We have several levels of hikes, from Easy to Strenuous ++ Most of our hikes are 5-12 miles and Moderate-Strenuous +. Please see which level fits your fitness level: HERE.

Please note that the (+) and (++) after a descriptor indicates is part of the level descriptor.

On our hikes, we keep a pace of 2.5-3 mph. We have time for pictures on the trails but we do ask that you be aware of your fitness level and considerate of the time so you and the group have a good experience and complete within the time allotted.

For most hikes, you will need:

• Sturdy hiking boots, waterproof if you have them.

• Layers and/or long pants

• At least 2 liters of water

• Substantial snack

• Poles recommended if you have them

Please be a self-sufficient hiker and adhere to the Buddy System on the trails.

ATTENDANCE:
Please be respectful of the organizer and group. No-shows are not OK. While we understand life can happen, we request that you update your attendance ASAP and at least 48-72 hours in advance as a courtesy to the organizer and the group if your plans change. If you are a no-show more than 3 times without at least letting the organizer/s know, you may be removed from the group. We put a lot of work into organizing our hikes and ask for your consideration in return.

GUESTS:

Guests of our members are generally welcome when we have room for them. Please DM the organizer for approval and make sure the guest has seen the trail description and meeting place & we will be happy to meet them! As we are a women's hiking group, all guests need to be female and age 18 and up.

DOGS:

Some of our hikes welcome a limited amount of friendly, well-socialized dogs, some do NOT. Please read each post to see if dogs are allowed. If they can, it is per hike (not per park). If dogs are allowed, you must abide by the organizer's dog rules and let them know they are coming ahead of time.
