East Tennessee Wanderers

What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for a walk in the Tellico Village Chota Neighborhood woods. The 5K and 10K walks will have some moderate elevation (rated 2C/3C) changes as we walk on natural pathways. We will also plan to have an optional lunch at the Tellico Village Yacht Club following our walk for those who are interested.

When: Monday, March 3rd, 9:00am start for 10K walkers and 10:00am start for the 5K walkers. Optional lunch from approx. 12:00 to 1:00.

Where: We will meet at the Tellico Village Wellness Center, 200 Dohi Drive, Loudon, TN 37774. We will meet in the parking area. Look for the "Neon Green Shirts", as we will be your guides for this walk. The optional lunch at The Yacht Club at Tellico Village, 200 Sequoyah Dr., Loudon, TN.

Walk Details: The walk is a scenic walk on natural paths (see photo) with some modest hilly sections. AVA ranking would be a 2C/3C. Walking sticks may be helpful for the steeper trail sections.

Registration Fee: There is a modest $3.00 fee payable to the leader at the start of the walk. Please try to arrive 15 minutes early to make payment. Exact change is appreciated.

Pets are allowed on the walk, but not at the restaurant.

What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for an out-n-back walk on the Lotterdale Cove Branch Trail (5K/3.1 mi. and 10K/6.2 mi.) in Greenback, TN. The trail is part of the East Lakeshore Trail system. We will also plan to have an optional lunch at Calhoun's, Lenoir City following our walks for those who are interested. The East Lakeshore Trail system does allow pets.

When: Saturday, March 8th, 2025. The 10K walkers leave at 9:00am and the 5K group will leave at 10:00am. Try to arrive 15 minutes prior to departure.

Where: We will meet in the Lotterdale Cove Recreation Area parking lot. Look for the "Neon Green Shirts", as we will be your guides for this walk.

GPS Note: GPS indicates to turn on Bellview Rd (on both sides of East Coast Tellico Parkway) the street sign still says JACKSON CEMETERY RD on the west side. Take Jackson Cemetery Rd to the parking area at the end.

NO Restrooms: Their are no restrooms at the trailhead. Please plan to stop on your way. Consider stopping in Lenoir City from the North or at Greenback Market & Deli, 6525 Hwy 411 if coming from Maryville.

Details: The Lotterdale Cove Branch is a wooded walk on natural dirt trails with very little elevation changes (less than 200 ft). This would be rated a 1C walk with the AVA rating scale.

Registration: This is an American Volksport Association (AVA) sanctioned club walk and we have a modest $3.00 fee per walker, payable to the walk leader when you arrive, to cover sanctioning fees and insurance costs. Exact change appreciated.

What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for the Clinton 12 historic walk. It is a 5 km or 10 km loop through the city of Clinton, TN, to highlight the history of 1956, when 12 young Black students were the first to desegregate a state-supported high school in the South. There is a $3 fee and waiver to sign. Optional lunch following the walk at Hoskins Drug Store. Outdoor seating available weather permitting.

Where: Meet at the Clinton Splash Pad Park at 130 S. Charles G Seivers Blvd in downtown Clinton. Also near the tennis courts.

When: Friday, Mar. 14th. 10 km walkers will meet at 9 AM. 5 km walkers will meet at 10 AM.

Details and terrain: This walk is generally on city sidewalks and park trails in and around Clinton. We’ll learn about the desegregation of the school, the community’s initial support, followed by the arrival of outside white supremacists with propaganda that resulted in growing violence, including the bombing of the high school. The communities of Clinton and Oak Ridge rallied to support the Black students and their families, and refurbished an abandoned elementary school in Oak Ridge, so Clinton HS could be back in session in one week.

Pets must be on a leash and are generally not allowed in the businesses. They are allowed outside at Hoskins (weather permitting).

Restrooms: There are restrooms at the start of this walk, and there may be limited access at some of the businesses along the way.

Registration: Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your preferred walk to get signed in. There is a modest $3 walk fee payable to the leader at the start of the walk for insurance and sanctioning fees.
