Rakino Island Explore

Greetings Everyone - Join us this Sunday for an exciting journey as we embark on a voyage to Rakino Island.

Rakino Island beckons with its unspoiled beauty and tranquility. This island paradise offers pristine beaches, lush native bush, and a serene escape from the city's hustle. Explore hiking trails, swim in crystal-clear waters, and revel in the peaceful ambiance while connecting with nature in this hidden gem of the Hauraki Gulf.

Duration: About 4-5 hours hike including stops.
Distance: Approx 10-12 km.
Difficulty: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.

Cost: $40 for the ferry. Pay AGT 12-3430-0791504-00

● Post-Hike Gathering (Optional): We will share a wine or beer or water on the ferry boat trip back to Westhaven. Bring some snacks and leave on the ferry.

There are no shops on the island. Wear good shoes.

Numbers are limited to 40 - Priority will be given to regular members who help with car pooling and general hiking assistance.

● More Important Information - Refunds: Refunds will only be issued if Riverhead Ferry Company cancel due to bad weather. If you change your mind, use the "Comments" section to sell your ticket to another member.

07:45 - Good time to arrive at Pier Z - Westhaven Drive
08:00 - Riverhead Ferry Leaves with or without you.
09:30 - We arrive at Rakino - Introductions and start walking.

16:00 - Hiking Finish (approx) - Get on the ferry
17:30 - Ferry arrives back at Westhaven

● Hike Description & Directions:
We will walk anti-clockwise travelling on tracks, local roads and the coastline. Time will be allocated for lunch/swim at Woody Bay. (Optional).

• Appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

• Comfortable shoes suitable for a variety of terrains.

• Safety and togetherness are our priorities. We will make stops at all track junctions to ensure the group stays together.
• Punctuality is key, and we will depart on time, so please be prompt.
• Take care when swimming, there are no lifeguards.
