Greetings Everyone - October 2025 we will be visiting Sydney Harbour and the famous Blue Mountains for Trekking, Walking, Eating and a little shopping and drinking. A Total of 4 days.

Exploring Sydney Harbour on foot offers a captivating blend of coastal beauty, iconic landmarks, and vibrant urban life.
Begin our journey with the Bondi to Coogee Walk, a cliffside trail that meanders along golden beaches and unveils dramatic ocean panoramas. Admire the surfers mastering waves and revel in the outdoor sculptures along the way, adding an artistic touch to this coastal escapade.
For a leisurely stroll blending shopping and views, take on the Birkenhead Point to Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk. This path connects the shopping haven of Birkenhead Point to the architectural splendor of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, allowing you to absorb the city's skyline and maritime charm.
Hop on a ferry for a delightful ride to Manly, where the sunset paints the harbor in warm hues. Enjoy a delightful dinner by the water, savoring local flavors. Afterward, take a serene walk to Shelly Beach, its tranquil shores contrasting with the lively atmosphere of the main beach.
To witness the harbor's grandeur from an elevated perspective, embark on the Watson Bay Lighthouse Walk. As you navigate the scenic path, the historic lighthouse emerges, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline and the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
Walking around Sydney Harbour is a sensory journey, where the rhythm of the waves harmonizes with the city's pulse. From the bustling energy of the Harbour Bridge to the tranquil shores of Shelly Beach, each step immerses you in the diverse beauty of this iconic Australian harbour.
The Blue Mountains:
The Grand Cliff Top Walk (19km) in the Blue Mountains is a breathtaking adventure offering unparalleled views of this iconic Australian landscape. Stretching from Echo Point to Govetts Leap, the trail weaves along the edge of towering sandstone cliffs, revealing dramatic vistas of lush valleys, cascading waterfalls, and the vast wilderness below.
Along the way, you'll encounter highlights such as Katoomba Falls, the Three Sisters, and Leura Cascades, all framed by the region's distinctive eucalyptus haze. The walk is well-maintained, making it accessible to hikers of various levels. A blend of natural beauty and serenity, it’s a must-do experience for outdoor enthusiasts.

Friday - The Grand Cliff Top Walk. Take the train to Wentworth Falls. Return via Bus #686 to Echo Point, then onto the CBD. This walk is 19km.
Saturday - Birkenhead Point to Sydney Harbour Bridge - 15km - 3-4 hours
Take the Ferry out to Manly for dinner and walk to Shelly Beach
Sunday - Watson Bay to Hornby Lighthouse, Dover Heights/Rose Bay- 10km - 2-3 Hours

● More Stuff:
Grand Cliff Top Walk is suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience is recommended. While the walk doesn’t descend into the valley itself, there are many stairs and the climbing and descending add up.

Greetings Everyone - On Thursday we have the rare opportunity to tour the Auckland Government House Gardens.
Sadly the Governor General or the King will not be able to attend.
Only 15 people can attend.

Greetings Everyone - Join us this Sunday as we explore Tapora - Big Sand island (Manakapua). We will also make a visit to Port Albert, one of New Zealand's early European settlements.

Exploring Bird's Beach and the Big Sand Island (Manakapua) in Tapora offers a unique adventure filled with coastal charm and natural beauty. Bird's Beach, known for its serene atmosphere and abundant birdlife, is the perfect spot for nature enthusiasts. Take your time wandering along the shoreline, where you can observe native seabirds and enjoy the untouched beauty of the area.A short journey away, the Big Sand Island is a hidden gem. Accessible by kayak or small boat, this expansive sand dune offers sweeping views and a sense of isolation that’s truly special. It’s a fantastic destination for a picnic or a quiet moment to soak in the scenery.
Starting our day with a side trip to Port Albert, Wellsford, a historic settlement with a rich heritage. Enjoy the peaceful harbor views, and perhaps grab a bite at a local café before heading back.
Duration: About 3-4 hours hike including stops.
Distance: Approx 8-10 km.
Difficulty: 2.0 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.

● Hike Description & Directions:
We start our adventure by visiting Port Albert General Store for a coffee, then drive down and check out the wharf.
Onwards to Birds Beach for a toilet stop and early lunch.
Then we walk down the sand road for the entrance of Okahukura Conservation Area to the Big San Island. We will walk the southern end - clockwise.Stopping for a swim (Optional). We will finish the day at the Bridge Lodge House in Warkworth.● Capture the Moment:

Greetings Everyone - Join us this Wednesday Evening for our Summer Series of short city walks. Today we will be walking to the Orakei Train Station

A summer evening walk from Auckland’s Maritime Museum to Orakei Bay Village via Tamaki Drive offers a picturesque journey along the city’s stunning waterfront. Starting at the bustling Viaduct Harbour, the path winds along the coast with expansive views of the Waitematā Harbour and Rangitoto Island.As you stroll along Tamaki Drive, enjoy the cooling sea breeze, the glow of the sunset, and the vibrant energy of walkers, cyclists, and beachgoers. The journey ends at Orakei Bay Village, where boutique shops and cozy cafes invite you to relax.
This scenic walk beautifully combines urban vibrancy with coastal tranquility.

Greetings Everyone - Join us this Sunday for the famous Te Henga Walkway from Constable Road Muriwai to Tirikohua Point, followed by the Gannet Colony Walk.

The Te Henga Walkway, recently reopened, offers one of Auckland’s most stunning coastal hikes, stretching from Muriwai to Tirikohua Point. The trail follows rugged cliffs, windswept dunes, and rolling farmland, showcasing breathtaking views of the Tasman Sea.As you walk, you’ll encounter native bush, seabirds soaring above, and the sound of crashing waves below. The track features steep climbs and descents, making it a moderate challenge, but the rewarding vistas make every step worthwhile.
Spring and summer bring wildflowers and clear skies, while the winter months offer dramatic, misty landscapes.
The reopening of this trail is a welcome return for nature lovers, providing a perfect escape into Auckland’s wild west coast beauty. The Te Henga Walkway is a must-do.

● Hike Description & Directions:
We start our adventure by doing the short Te Henga Walkway that has been recently opened (2 hours). We will have lunch somewhere along the track. Then onwards to Muriwai Beach and the toilets before starting the walk up the hill to Maori Bay and the Gannet Colony. There should still be some Gannets nesting before leaving at the end of March.● Capture the Moment:
