Hokianga Harbour - Golden Stairs - Weekend

Details

Greetings Everyone - On Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will travel to the Hokianga Harbour and do The Golden Stairs Track and The Waimamaku Coastal Track. Both stunning walks.

Words to Inspire You:
The Golden Stairs Track in Hokianga during September is a magical experience, the kōwhai trees should be in flower, hence the name Golden Stairs. This moderately challenging track winds through native bush, offering breathtaking views over the Whangape Harbour and beyond. The cooler temperatures make for a comfortable hike, and the wildflowers and new growth add a vibrant touch to the scenery. Along the way, you’ll hear native birdsong and enjoy the peaceful remoteness of the area. Reaching the top rewards you with panoramic coastal views, making it the perfect spot to pause and appreciate Hokianga’s untamed beauty

The Waimamaku Coastal Track, located in the Hokianga region, offers a stunning blend of native bush, rugged coastline, and expansive ocean views. As you walk along the river, the landscape opens up to reveal golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, and rolling waves. The track is relatively remote, providing a peaceful and less-touristy experience. Perfect for nature lovers and hikers seeking solitude, the Waimamaku Coastal Track showcases the untamed beauty of Northland’s west coast, making it a must-do adventure for those exploring the region.
