Greetings Everyone - On Sunday we will visit some of the amazing gardens in Auckland City.

Parnell Rose Garden, Auckland Domain Native Forest and Winter Gardens, Highway - Historical House and Gardens, Eden Gardens and finishing with Western Park.

We will also walk to the top of Mount Eden (Time permitting).

Exploring Auckland’s garden gems like the Parnell Rose Garden, Eden Garden, the Winter Gardens, and the top of Mount Eden makes for a delightful outing for any hiking group.

The Parnell Rose Garden offers a vibrant sea of blooms and tranquil paths, while Eden Garden’s native plants and waterfalls create a peaceful haven for a quiet walk.

The Winter Gardens in Auckland Domain enchant with tropical plants and beautiful glasshouses, adding charm to the day.

Walking between these scenic spots combines leisurely strolls, photo opportunities, and a sense of community, perfect for nature enthusiasts and hiking friends alike.

Duration: About 3-4 hours hike including stops.
Distance: Approx 15-17 km.
Difficulty: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.
What the Grade means

Toilets: Yes

● Cost: $12 for Eden Gardens entrance fee, Highwic House is $10 (Gardens are free).

PLEASE: No smoking, animals, children or guests.

Post-Hike Gathering (Optional): After our adventure, you're welcome to join us for some well-deserved relaxation and camaraderie at The Birdcage Tavern

Important Notes:
Care must be taken when walking on the footpaths and crossing the road. Obey all traffic signs. Use the crossings.

Each person who participates accepts responsibility for making their own determinations and for their own safety, conduct and well being; recognising that there are hazards in attending group and outdoor activities and agrees to participate solely at their own risk.

Preparation is the key to having a good day:

  • Check the weather
  • Do you have the correct clothing and shoes?.
  • Bring Food for your Lunch.
  • Do you know where the meeting places are?

  • The Birdcage Tavern, 133 Franklin Road, Freemans Bay (Optional)

Carpooling:

  • No Carpooling will be arranged for this event.

Time Guideline: Times are Approx.
08:00 - Good time to arrive at New World
08:15 - We leave
11:00 - Arrive Highwic House (Closes at 12:00)
Lunch at Eden Gardens

14:30 - Hiking Finish (approx)
14:30 - 15:30 - The Birdcage Tavern (Optional)
