Details

Total Distance: 18km or so
Elevation Gain: about 700m

O'Brien is a small but picturesque lake in the Taylor Lake area. It is situated in a small cirque which enhances its beauty. But if you persevere a little further, you may come across a couple of hidden gems. Two small but very colourful, crystal clear tarns which are surrounded by larch.

The plan for the day is to hike directly to O'Brien Lake first and after a brief stop, continue on to the two smaller tarns.
We may stop at Taylor Lake on our way back if time/energy permits.

This trip is best suited to strong hikers who have done hikes this year of similar length and elevation gain. There will be a relatively short section of off-trail hiking on this trip which will include some bushwhacking and steep and/or rocky bits. We will hike at a steady, moderate pace. This will likely be a long day. If you have evening plans, this hike may not work for you.
