What we’re about

We are a community of conscious dance lovers from all walks of life in Cape Town. What we have in common is our love of music, our passion for dance and a reverence for the healing power of movement and the deep connections that can be achieved through non-verbal communication and being fully immersed in the moment.

Conscious dance is usually guided by a facilitator who sets an intention for the movement. Conscious dance is also known as "intentional dance". This is because the dancers enter the dance floor with a sense of intention. Their specific intentions may include processing personal issues, entering a state of meditation or regression, or expressing themselves authentically and creatively. Regardless of the terms used, a conscious dancer is frequently in pursuit of a deeper awareness of one's self, and others on the dance floor.

We have several regular events in the form of Biodanza classes. Biodanza is a form of conscious dance and a very powerful tool for personal transformation, helping you reach your full potential. It's also a lot of fun and a way of rediscovering the joy of living. No specific dance skills or experience is required and there are no steps to learn. It's a great way to meet and interact with others interested in real connection and personal development. It's also a lovely way to spend quality time or celebrate with friends. All adults welcome!

This is a safe space in which is suitable for anyone who loves to move and express themselves freely. It's intended to be a regular practice - preferably attended weekly over a period of years, progressing according to individual experience and capability. There are different levels of classes, namely:

  • Beginners (open to all adults)
  • Intermediate (for more experienced dancers only - deepening your practice and learning more challenging exercises)
  • Advanced (for seasoned Biodanceros / similar only - who are comfortable with deep journeys and know most of the dances / exercises)

Please note, the deeper classes - Intermediate and Advanced - are closed to newcomers.

Other ad-hoc / regular events will be created as the need arises. We also offer various workshops or dance-centred retreats during the year.

N.B. although this is a fun way to meet others, this is not a singles club.
